Highlights

Following injuries, including two to the back, among the firefighters of the Fire Department, the City wanted to train its firefighters in safe manual handling.

The mandate was to develop a training for trainers for the Fire Department and promote the autonomy of the City in terms of training fot their firefighters. This was facilitated by the fact that the Department already employed fire instructors.

For this training, the City was a finalist for Innovation in occupational safety & health, recognition by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST).

In 2006, the Blainville Fire Department created the Blainville fire training (CIFB). The CFIB is recognized by the National School Quebec firefighters as a separate regional training center.
